BLACK BOX THEATRE COLLECTIVE seeks to ignite change through art that challenges, connects, and enriches both our audiences and artists. By delving into new creations and revitalizing classic works, we commit to being adaptable in our production methods and to continually reflect on our purpose and impact within the community.

OUR TEAM consists of co-founders James Barclay and Tracy Labrosse, as well as social media manager and publicist Heather Evens.

JAMES BARCLAY is an actor, screenwriter, playwright and director who was born and raised in Vancouver, but spent more than a decade working in the film industry in Europe. He has directed and acted opposite award winners such as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), Ulrich Thomson (Banshee) and Zlatko Buric (Wolfs). After returning to Canada, he wrote his first stage play, which will have its world premiere at Hendry Hall in North Vancouver on January 31st, 2025.

TRACY LABROSSE is an award winning actress who has graced the stages around metro Vancouver more than 25 years. She has also directed numerous theatrical productions and has worked as a production designer on both stage and film productions.

HEATHER EVENS has worked her way through six different careers, held positions in over a dozen industries, and lived in five countries. She holds a bachelor of arts in psychology and law, and among many other subjects, she's studied communications, social media, various business-related technology, organizational behaviour, and four languages.
